The ORCHESTRA Slim Signature is a small ported 2-way speaker from the German brand sonoro, part of its Signature line and developed together with engineer Karl-Heinz Fink. It is designed for placement close to a wall in small and medium rooms, and it is voiced in line with the larger ORCHESTRA Shaped Signature. Launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 at a price of EUR 1,199 per pair.

Key specs that matter

Each speaker pairs an Air Motion Transformer tweeter with a 5.25 inch woofer whose cone is a Kevlar-reinforced composite of paper and bamboo, driven by a strong neodymium motor. The folded AMT diaphragm has an area of about 85 cm2, and the crossover point is 2800 Hz. Frequency range is 49 Hz to 25 kHz at -6 dB, sensitivity is 86 dB SPL at 2.83 V and 1 m, and impedance is 4 ohm. Sonoro recommends amplifiers from 50 W, and each speaker weighs about 7.2 kg. The enclosure is ported and measures 180 mm wide, 326 mm high and 260 mm deep. Screw terminals of Signature grade sit on the back panel, and an M6 threaded insert on the underside allows secure mounting. Three finishes are offered - white matte, silver, and black matte - each combined with aluminium accents.

Engineering and use context

Constrained layer damping is applied through a two-layer build. The front baffle consists of two HDF layers, while the other walls use two MDF layers joined by a special damping adhesive, which lowers panel resonance. The baffle slopes backwards to align the wavefronts of the two drivers, and the tweeter is mounted offset from the centre line to improve timing. Drivers sit flush with no visible screws, and the edges are rounded and hand-finished. The bass reflex port and the crossover network were tuned for wall-proximity placement, so the speaker does not need to stand far out into the room. The slim footprint and modest depth make it suitable for shelves, sideboards and desks, and a foam plug for the reflex tube and a removable cover are supplied.

Pairing

A compact stereo amplifier or a streaming amplifier suits the ORCHESTRA Slim Signature, and sonoro sells its own PLATINUM Signature turntable in the same line for a matched analogue source. The threaded insert lets owners fix the speakers to brackets or stands, and a wall position is part of the design brief rather than a compromise. A subwoofer can be added in larger rooms around 20 m2 or more.
