The ORBIT 11 is an active coaxial three-way studio monitor from Palmer, the German pro-audio brand of the Adam Hall Group based in Neu-Anspach in Hesse. Palmer announced it on 10 February 2026 at a UK price of GBP 799 including VAT, for mixing, mastering, post-production, sound design, broadcast and content creation. It comes in black or white and is currently the only model in the ORBIT series.

Key specs that matter

A 6.5 inch ferrite midrange driver with a 2 inch voice coil carries a 1 inch neodymium tweeter with a 1 inch voice coil on the same axis, while two 8 inch ferrite woofers with 1.5 inch voice coils sit in the side walls. Crossover points are 250 Hz and 1800 Hz. The Class D amplification is rated at 400 W RMS, split into 320 W for the woofers and 40 W each for midrange and tweeter, with 1000 W peak. Response is 28 Hz to 28 kHz at -3 dB, maximum SPL is 116 dB peak with a sine burst at 1 m and no more than 3 percent THD, and dispersion is 120 x 120 degrees. The cabinet measures 217 mm wide, 293 mm high and 292 mm deep and weighs 13.9 kg.

Engineering and use context

Putting the tweeter in the centre of the midrange cone makes both radiate from one point, so the listener hears the same balance of the two drivers off axis and at different heights. The side-firing woofer pair keeps the front baffle small while giving the monitor the radiating area of two large cones, and mounting them opposite each other cancels much of the cabinet vibration they cause. The sealed enclosure is die-cast aluminium with walls between 5 and 16 mm thick and stands on decoupled feet. Signal processing runs at 96 kHz and 24 bit with FIR filters for linear phase, at a system latency of 4 ms. The top control panel gives access to an input pad, a three-band parametric EQ, an 80 Hz high-pass filter for use with a subwoofer, and presets for desk and rear-wall placement. Mounting points and an M8 eye-bolt allow wall or ceiling installation with a safety line.

Pairing

The balanced XLR analogue input takes the output of a preamplifier, monitor controller or audio interface, while the AES3 digital input receives a digital signal directly and the AES3 thru output passes it on to the second monitor in a chain.

Alternatives

The Palmer STUDIMON 5 is a smaller two-way nearfield monitor with a 5 inch woofer, a 0.75 inch silk dome tweeter and two 30 W Class AB amplifiers.
