The MF-1 CX 10 is the midfield model among the active coaxial monitors from Logos Speakers, a studio brand based in Naples, Italy. Logos was started by Dave Mastrodonato, who earlier built the DMSD range of decouplers for monitors, hi-fi systems and instruments, with Danilo Caruso and Alessio Matrone running operations. The range places the 6.5-inch NF-1 for nearfield work below this 10-inch design and the 12-inch M-1 above it, with a Sub-12 as the matching bass unit. Logos aims the MF-1 at control room midfield listening and at LCR monitoring in small and medium control rooms.

Key specs that matter

A 254 mm low-frequency cone shares its axis with a 25 mm tweeter, and each driver receives its own 125 W RMS amplifier channel. Response is quoted as 45 Hz to 20 kHz at the -3 dB points, measured at 1 m on-axis in full space. Maximum continuous and peak output are both given as 110 dB at 1 m. At 10 kHz the -6 dB coverage spans plus and minus 60 degrees horizontally and plus 50 to minus 40 degrees vertically. The cabinet is a 300 mm cube and each speaker weighs 12 kg, finished in black or rosewood.

Engineering and use context

Every Logos monitor is built around a coaxial driver, so the tweeter radiates from the centre of the woofer as one point source. The brand's stated aim is symmetric dispersion in both planes and phase coherence across the band, including the region around the crossover frequency. Cabinets are made from 30 mm HDF in place of the more usual MDF, a choice Logos links to the behaviour of the coaxial driver and to decoupling from the surrounding air. Decouplers are fitted to all models, including lateral ones for hanging the cabinets in suspended installations. Each unit has a selectable 110 or 240 V AC mains supply and an RJ45 port that opens a web-based control interface. The digital input includes asynchronous sample rate conversion from 44.1 kHz up to 216 kHz.

Pairing

Inputs cover two balanced and two unbalanced analogue connections plus a stereo AES/EBU digital feed on XLR, so the MF-1 CX 10 can take a signal straight from a console, audio interface or any source with an AES/EBU digital output. Because amplification is built in, no external power amplifier is needed. Logos lists the design as a surround channel for Auro 3D, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats. A speaker output terminal is also listed among the connections.

Alternatives

The Logos NF-1 CX 6.5 uses a cabinet of the same size with a 165 mm coaxial driver for nearfield duty and a response from 80 Hz.
