The LOUNGE 2, a compact two-way speaker meant for stands, comes from OePhi, the Danish company founded in 2021 by Joakim Juhl, a former research fellow at Harvard, which began with cables designed around signal integrity and phase accuracy before moving into loudspeakers. Lounge is OePhi's entry range, unveiled at High End Munich 2025, and the brand's nine speakers also include the Ascendance, Transcendence and Immanence lines and the Ref3.5. The LOUNGE 2 costs GBP 2,695, EUR 2,990 or USD 3,500 per pair with five years of warranty.

Key specs that matter

A 6.5 inch SB Acoustics paper-cone mid-bass driver works with a modified 25 mm SEAS metal-dome tweeter, the same low-energy-storage dome used in the Transcendence range, and the crossover point is 3 kHz. OePhi gives an in-room bandwidth of 45 Hz to 27 kHz and an in-room sensitivity of 87 dB. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm, and power handling is 75 W of music programme. The cabinet is bass-reflex loaded. Each speaker measures 350 mm high, 185 mm wide and 300 mm deep and weighs 6.5 kg. Finishes are oil-treated real-wood veneer in Oak, Walnut or Black Ash, with Satin White as an option.

Engineering and use context

The crossover follows OePhi's Time Compensated XO approach, which aligns the arrival of the two drivers' output, and a low-energy-storage topology that avoids parts which store and release energy after the signal has passed. It is soldered point to point directly to the terminals, uses air-core inductors and includes what OePhi calls Transient Integrity circuitry. Internal cabling is solid core, reflecting the company's background in cable design. The cabinet follows the same Low Energy Storage principle, with a tuned internal volume and reflex port. A metal dome is stiffer than a fabric dome, which pushes its break-up above the audible range. Paper keeps the cone light while damping its own resonances. Single-wire brass binding posts connect the speaker cable. The speakers are handmade in Denmark, and OePhi cites more than 25 years of experience in loudspeaker development. Figures measured in a room include the effect of the room and are not directly comparable with anechoic data.

Pairing

The easy nominal load and moderate sensitivity suit integrated amplifiers from about 30 W up to the rated power handling in a room of about 20 m2, raised on stands so the tweeter sits level with the ears.
