The Legacy 3210 is the only stand-mount model in the Legacy series by Elipson, alongside the floorstanding Legacy 3220 and the larger Legacy 3230. Introduced in late 2019, the 3210 opened the series. Elipson was founded in 1938 and was privately held until 2008, when AV Industry acquired it. The 3210 is designed, developed and manufactured in France, in the Burgundy factory that also builds the brand's turntables, and Elipson lists it at EUR 2,989 per pair.
Key specs that matter
A 6.5 inch mid-woofer with an aluminium cone carrying a ceramic surface layer handles the lower band, while a wide-dispersion AMT ribbon unit takes over above 2,800 Hz. The crossover uses an 18 dB per octave high-pass with impedance equalization and a 12 dB per octave low-pass with notch circuitry. Frequency response is 42 Hz to 30,000 Hz within 3 dB and extends to 38 kHz at minus 5 dB. Sensitivity is 88 dB at 1 W and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 6 ohm, falling to a minimum of 4.9 ohm at 175 Hz. Power handling is rated at 100 W RMS. Each unit is 276 mm wide, 404 mm high and 360 mm deep and weighs 13.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
Its MDF enclosure is 22 mm to 25 mm thick, with non-parallel side panels, rounded front and rear edges and an internal brace that couples the mid-woofer to the cabinet structure. Real wood veneer covers the outside, and an aluminium insert sits on top. The ceramic surface on the aluminium cone is chosen for lightness and rigidity. The circular reflex port has a flared shape and exits at the back, so the speaker needs space from the wall behind it for full bass extension. Two finish options are offered - walnut or silver oak, each with black satin details. In the box, each unit comes with magnetic grilles, four pre-installed decoupling spikes, four counter-spikes, white handling gloves and documentation. The depth is greater than the width, so stands need a deep top plate.
Pairing
Two pairs of terminals accept thick cables, banana plugs and spades, so woofer and tweeter can be fed by separate cable runs or by separate amplifier channels. With a minimum impedance close to 5 ohm, the speaker suits most transistor integrated amplifiers, and amplifiers of 40 W per channel or more are recommended, with the power rating as the upper guide.
Alternatives
The Elipson Heritage XLS 7 is a lower-priced two-way stand-mount from the vintage-styled Heritage range, using a 165 mm cellulose cone and a silk dome tweeter.
