The Guru 12 is a compact two-way speaker made by Guru Audio, a company based in Uppsala in Sweden. It is built as a compact speaker for use on stands, and the maker also allows it to sit on a sturdy sideboard or lowboard. The cabinet combines MDF with steel and uses a Helmholtz resonator in place of a conventional reflex tube.

Engineering and use context

The enclosure is tuned as a Helmholtz resonator that vents through a front-firing port, so the opening sits on the baffle rather than on the rear panel. Stainless steel parts are combined with the MDF body. The speaker is designed and engineered in Stockholm, and Guru states that critical components are made in-house or produced under its supervision at European facilities. Guru also offers matching tripod stands in oak or dark grey as an option. Guru states that the woofer operates without distortion from 28 Hz upward through the midrange, slightly below the lower limit of the typical in-room response. The company describes the design goal as temporally and dynamically precise reproduction in a compact form.

Guru recommends amplifiers rated from 20 W to 160 W. The impedance minimum means the amplifier chosen should handle low loads without strain. In the US the launch price was USD 2,700 per pair, later raised to USD 3,340, while the European price starts from EUR 2,990.
