The Figaro B2 is a bookshelf model in the second-generation Figaro range of AudioSolutions, a loudspeaker maker founded in 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania, by engineer Gediminas Gaidelis. Every speaker is hand-built in-house, starting from raw materials rather than pre-made components, and output is capped at about 500 pairs a year. The full Figaro line comprises the C2, B2, BL2, S2, M2, L2, XLm2 and XL2.

Key specs that matter

Two drivers designed by AudioSolutions itself are fitted to a bass-reflex box - a 19 mm silk dome tweeter and a 152 mm mid-bass driver with an Extra Rigid paper cone. The crossover point sits at 4,000 Hz. The maker quotes an in-room frequency response of 42 Hz to 25,000 Hz, sensitivity of 89.5 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m and a nominal impedance of 4.0 ohm. Suggested amplifier power spans 5 W to 150 W. Each cabinet measures 337 mm high, 223 mm wide and 339 mm deep, and weighs 10 kg, rising to 12 kg packed.

Engineering and use context

The tweeter is loaded by a shallow Mini-Horn, a feature used across the brand's ranges, while the mid-bass unit works as an extended-band driver covering everything below the tweeter. Placing the crossover this high keeps the handover away from the 1,000 to 1,500 Hz region, where the company says the ear is most sensitive to crossover effects. The enclosure uses the Cabinet-In-A-Cabinet method taken from the Virtuoso series - an inner and an outer box bonded by a thin polyurethane layer, which turns vibration energy into heat instead of letting the panels resonate. Its port exits through the back panel, and connection is through WBT NextGen terminals. Height-adjustable spikes are supplied. Finishes are satin soft-touch surfaces with brass metal accents, with Pearl White, Zinc Grey and Dark Grey as standard choices and four further bespoke satin colours on request, and an online configuration program allows further personal combinations.

Pairing

AudioSolutions describes the Figaro B2 as easy to drive for most amplifiers, and the low minimum of its suggested power range opens the door to low-output valve designs as well as larger transistor units, provided they are comfortable with its low nominal impedance. The maker also states that the speaker may be placed very near the wall behind it, which helps where free space around the cabinets is limited.
