Buchardt Audio of Denmark describes the E50-S as a passive two-way speaker with passive radiator loading, designed for stand placement and positioned as a sibling to the original E50 rather than its replacement. Where the E50 uses a PURIFI woofer, this version adopts a custom 7.5-inch Satori driver chosen for higher sensitivity. The current list price is EUR 4,300 per pair, after the model opened for pre-order at EUR 4,100 when it was announced in 2026.

In-room bass response is quoted from 38 Hz to 22,000 Hz. The maker gives sensitivity as 91 dB in room and 88 dB anechoic, and the nominal 4 ohm impedance does not dip below that figure. The driver line-up is a custom 1-inch Scan-Speak textile dome tweeter in a waveguide, the 7.5-inch Satori midwoofer and two 6-inch extended-stroke, low-weight passive radiators. The crossover point sits at 2,000 Hz with a third-order Butterworth slope. Each cabinet measures 395 x 200 x 284 mm and weighs 9 kg.

Engineering and use context

The Satori woofer has a TeXtreme thin-ply carbon diaphragm driven by a fully neodymium motor, and its larger cone area is what raises sensitivity over the earlier driver while keeping long excursion. The crossover contains no resistors at all, using Jantzen Superior Z-Cap capacitors and 14 AWG copper-foil coils. Cabinets are built from solid European wood, 19 mm thick with a 28 mm front baffle, and braced internally. Damping inside combines scattering cutouts, Basotect, natural wool and polyester. Connection is through Argento Audio five-way binding posts with iron-free construction and a silver connector tube. Three finishes are offered - rounded natural oak, rounded smoked oak and rounded charcoal - and the warranty runs for ten years.

Pairing

Buchardt states that the E50-S can be driven by amplifiers starting from around 15 W, including small valve designs, as well as by powerful solid-state units, which widens the choice compared with the lower-sensitivity E50. The passive radiators load the bass without a port, so the speakers suit a 20 m2 room on rigid stands at ear height. Compared with its sibling, Buchardt trades some of the deepest bass extension for the higher sensitivity, so the two models address different amplifier choices rather than one replacing the other.
