The Acoustic Energy AE307² is a compact two-way LCR loudspeaker from the British company's redesigned 300 Series, announced on 1 September 2025 as the final model to complete that range. It replaces the earlier AE307 and was launched at the same competitive price as the outgoing version, at GBP 429 per speaker in the UK. Acoustic Energy positions it for small and medium rooms, for stereo use on shelves or stands and for home theatre systems as a left, centre or right channel.
Key specs that matter
A 120 mm paper cone bass-mid driver works with a 29 mm fabric dome tweeter, with a single crossover point set at 3.5 kHz. The quoted frequency range is 45 Hz to 29 kHz, sensitivity is 89 dB and nominal impedance is 6 ohm. Power handling is rated at 120 W, while peak output reaches 115 dB SPL. Measured in horizontal orientation the cabinet is 200 mm high, 500 mm wide and 125 mm deep, and each unit weighs 6.5 kg. Finish options are walnut, a newly developed silk-touch matte black and matte white.
Engineering and use context
The bass-mid cone blends paper with coconut fibre, a material developed from research carried out for the Corinium, the company's top loudspeaker project. The soft dome tweeter is also an all-new unit. Both drivers sit in a slimline 18 mm constrained-layer enclosure that Acoustic Energy calls RSC, or Resonance Suppression Composite, made of MDF bonded with bitumen - a construction previously reserved for the more expensive Reference Series. Instead of a port, the sealed box uses a passive radiator, which is why the shallow cabinet can be hung on a wall in either vertical or horizontal orientation without a rear opening being blocked. Slim cloth grilles attach magnetically, and the trims and grilles are colour-matched to each finish, with a screen-printed logo on the front.
Pairing
As the LCR member of the 300 Series, the AE307² shares its paper and coconut fibre cone material and soft dome tweeter family with the AE309² and AE320² floorstanders, so it can take the centre position between them in a home theatre. An optional angled desk stand, priced at GBP 49, tilts the speaker toward the listening position when it is placed below a screen. The nominal impedance and moderate efficiency suit typical AV receivers and stereo integrated amplifiers able to deliver steady current.
Alternatives
For a conventional upright cabinet on a shelf or stand, Acoustic Energy offers the AE300² as the compact bookshelf design of the same 300 Series.
