The 6c is an active stand-mount loudspeaker from Dutch & Dutch, the Dutch company led by Martijn Mensink and known for its 8c. It was created in response to listeners who wanted the 8c's performance in a smaller package, and the company states it is not a lite version. It combines built-in amplification, DSP, streaming and room adaptation, and it can be extended with the 6S bass module.

Key specs that matter

The 6c uses a 6 in driver on the front with a waveguided tweeter and a cardioid dispersion pattern in the bass. Amplification is built-in Class D. It runs on the Ascend hardware and software platform, with Spotify Connect and Roon, and TIDAL and Qobuz support in development. RoomMatching calibrates the speaker to the room, and u-BACCH provides 3D spatial processing. Each speaker measures 38 x 22 x 30.8 cm and weighs 14 kg. The European price started at EUR 9,950 per pair, with the 6S module at EUR 21,550 and the complete 6cS at EUR 31,500.

Engineering and use context

In an untreated room, the listener hears as much of the room as of the speaker. Below the Schroeder frequency, typically 100 to 200 Hz, a room behaves resonantly, with modes, and above it reverberantly, with reflections. Dutch & Dutch addresses the region above by designing the speaker so its off-axis response closely follows its on-axis response, so reflected sound has the same spectrum as direct sound, which the waveguided tweeter supports. In the bass, the cardioid pattern radiates less energy backwards and to the sides, reducing interaction with the wall behind the speaker and the room modes it excites. RoomMatching then adjusts the speaker to its position and room. Because the amplifiers, DAC and DSP crossover are inside, the 6c needs only a network connection or a digital or analogue source. The 6S low-frequency module, due in 2026, turns the 6c into the 6cS floorstanding system with full-range cardioid output and higher headroom. The white gloss finish is among the options. In Australia a pair sold for AUD 16,900, and in the UK for about GBP 8,749. Deliveries began in December 2025.

Pairing

The 6c needs no amplifier or DAC, only a streaming source or Roon. Adding the 6S module later creates a full-range floorstanding system.
