The Zohn-1 is a pair of custom-fit true wireless earphones from Breggz, the Amsterdam brand founded by the Dutch singer Xander de Buisonje, developed together with EAR Micro, Bragi and Mimi Hearing Technologies. It was announced on 21 October 2024 and shown at CES 2025, and one launch report gives a price of EUR 895. It is described as the first fully wireless in-ear headphone to receive IMAX Enhanced certification, and it is the brand's only product.
Key specs that matter
The drivers are Knowles balanced armatures. Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio connects the earphones, with a low-latency gaming mode. There is no active noise cancelling, and the custom fit gives about 26 dB of passive isolation, with a transparency mode to let outside sound in. Battery life is 8 hours per charge and 40 hours with the charging case, which charges over USB-C and has a replaceable battery. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The earphones are rated IPX4. Each earpiece carries three touch sensors, and six beamforming microphones with AI noise suppression serve for calls. Finishes are Matte Black and gloss White.
Engineering and use context
The fit starts with an ear scan made with the smartphone camera in the iOS app. The shells are then produced by medical-grade industrial 3D printing in medical-grade ceramic or biocompatible plastic, with a hypoallergenic bio-coating, and six tip sizes complete the fit. A shell shaped to the individual ear seals the canal, which is where the passive isolation comes from, and holds the earphone securely without pressure. Each pair is assembled by hand, and its drivers are calibrated and tested with a binaural microphone and a pressure sensor. A balanced armature is a small driver in which a reed moves inside a magnetic field, which suits the compact space of an in-ear shell. The Mimi hearing test in the app measures the listener's hearing and adjusts the response by up to 12 dB to compensate, and a five-band equaliser is available as well. Controls also include head gestures and voice commands, developed with Bragi. The replaceable case battery extends the useful life of the product.
Pairing
iPhone owners can carry out the ear scan themselves, and any phone, tablet or laptop with Bluetooth connects. Gaming mode cuts the audio delay when watching video or playing. The three touch sensors on each side take over playback and call control.
Alternatives
Breggz makes no other headphones, as the Zohn-1 is its only model.
