Key specs that matter

Each cup holds a 40 mm dynamic driver with a composite diaphragm. The hybrid noise cancelling uses five microphones and an AI algorithm, and Tribit rates its depth at up to 45 dB. Battery life is up to 110 hours with noise cancelling off and up to 70 hours with it on, and a 10 minute charge gives about 5 hours of playback at 50 percent volume. Charging is by USB-C. Bluetooth 6.0 is used, with a stated range of up to 50 m in open space, and multipoint pairing keeps two source devices linked at the same time. The headphone weighs 283 g.

Engineering and use context

The hybrid system pairs microphones on the outside of each cup, which pick up outside noise ahead of the listener's ear, with microphones inside the cup that measure what is left, so the system can correct its own residual error. The same five microphones handle voice pickup for calls. A hear-through mode passes outside sound to the ear when the user needs to hear announcements or traffic. The Tribit app offers six preset EQ modes plus manual adjustment, and a Game mode that lowers latency for video and games. XBass is switched on by a double tap, a Hearing Protection mode caps the level at 85 dB, and a Quick Attention function lowers the volume when a hand covers the ear cup. All controls, the noise cancelling switch and the charging port sit on the right cup. The ear cups rotate and fold, and a storage case is supplied. Cushions use breathable protein leather over memory foam, and the adjustable headband and slight cup tilt are meant to suit different head shapes. The housing is plastic, which keeps the weight down for long travel sessions. A 3.5 mm cable is included, and in wired mode the headphone plays without being powered on and can still be used for calls.

Pairing

Phones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth are the intended sources, and multipoint suits switching between a work computer and a phone. The analogue cable allows use with an in-flight entertainment socket, a portable player or a computer output when the battery is empty.
