The Sennheiser HDB 630 is a closed-back, over-ear wireless headphone with adaptive noise cancelling, aimed at listeners who want high-resolution playback without a cable. Pre-orders opened on 8 October 2025 and shipping began on 21 October 2025, at EUR 499.90 and USD 499.95. Its crossfeed function is inspired by the Sennheiser HE 1.

Key specs that matter

A 42 mm moving-coil transducer of in-house design sits in each earcup, built at the Sennheiser plant in Tullamore, Ireland. The quoted frequency response is 6 Hz to 40 kHz over USB, the analogue input or aptX Adaptive at 96 kHz, and 6 Hz to 22 kHz in other modes. Active impedance is 480 ohm, maximum level is 105 dB SPL at 1 kHz and 0 dBFS, and distortion stays under 0.2 % at 1 kHz and 100 dB SPL. Resolution reaches 24-bit and 96 kHz. Bluetooth 5.2 handles SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive. A charge lasts up to 60 hours, and ten minutes on the charger gives about seven hours of use. Weight without cable is 311 g.

Engineering and use context

Three inputs feed the electronics - Bluetooth, a USB-C port that carries digital audio, and a 3.5 mm analogue socket. Many phones do not support aptX Adaptive at full resolution, so Sennheiser packs a BTD 700 USB-C transmitter dongle that brings the full-resolution wireless link to roughly 80 % of smartphone models. The Smart Control Plus app adds a five-band equaliser with genre presets, a parametric equaliser with adjustable Q and filter types, an A/B toggle for comparing presets, codec preference selection and preset sharing between owners. Adaptive noise cancelling works alongside a transparency mode, on-head detection and integrated microphones for calls. The headband is covered in IDEATEX protein leatherette from Japan, and the ear pads use a synthetic leatherette. The box also holds a carrying case, a 1.2 m USB-C to USB-C charging cable, a 1.2 m analogue cable with a 3.5 mm plug and an in-flight adapter.

Pairing

Android phones with native aptX Adaptive can connect directly, while iPhones and computers without that codec reach full resolution through the supplied dongle. A USB-C link from a laptop or phone bypasses Bluetooth for wired digital playback, and the analogue cable accepts a portable player or an in-flight entertainment socket. A separate headphone amplifier is not needed in any of these modes.

Alternatives

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless is the brand's other closed over-ear Bluetooth model with adaptive noise cancelling.
