The FreeClip 2 is a pair of open-ear true wireless earbuds from HUAWEI that clip onto the ear instead of sitting in the ear canal. Each earbud joins a sound unit and a battery unit with a curved C-bridge, and the design follows the first FreeClip of 2023. It launched in early 2026, with the Singapore launch on 9 January 2026, at CNY 1,299, GBP 179, EUR 199 and SGD 228.
Key specs that matter
Each earbud has a 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm driver, and frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Bluetooth 6.0 connects two devices at once, with pop-up pairing on EMUI 10.0 and later. Each earbud holds a 60 mAh battery and the case 537 mAh. Music playback lasts 9 hours per charge and 38 hours with the case, and calls last 6 hours and 25 hours. Wired charging over USB-C takes about 50 minutes for the case alone, about 60 minutes for case and earbuds and about 40 minutes for the earbuds in the case, and wireless charging at up to 3 W takes about 150 minutes for the case. Each earbud measures 25.4 x 26.7 x 18.8 mm and weighs about 5.1 g, and the case weighs about 37.8 g. The earbuds are rated IP57 and the case IP54. Colours are Berry Purple, Blue, Rose Gold, White and Black.
Engineering and use context
The C-bridge is liquid silicone over a shape-memory alloy, 25% softer than before, so it bends to fit the ear and returns to shape. Because the earbud sits outside the canal, the listener continues to hear the surroundings, which suits running, cycling and office use. The left and right channels are assigned automatically, so either earbud can go in either ear. Sensors include infrared, Hall, a combined gyroscope and accelerometer, a bone-conduction sensor and touch surfaces. The bone sensor picks up the wearer's voice through vibration, which helps call noise cancellation separate speech from wind and traffic. Double-tapping plays, pauses or answers calls, triple-tapping skips a track and swiping adjusts volume, and head movements can also control calls. Multiple equaliser presets and adaptive volume, which changes the level with the surrounding noise, are provided. IP57 means the earbuds withstand dust and temporary immersion, which covers sweat and rain.
Pairing
Huawei phones with EMUI 10.0 or later pair through a pop-up, and any other Bluetooth phone or laptop connects normally, with two devices active at once.
