The Aurvana Ace 2 from Creative is a set of wireless earbuds that places two kinds of driver in every earbud - an xMEMS solid-state unit alongside a 10 mm dynamic one. It supports Bluetooth LE Audio and Qualcomm aptX Lossless as part of the Snapdragon Sound platform, and its European price is EUR 99.99.

Key specs that matter

Creative's frequency range spans 5 Hz to 40,000 Hz. Bluetooth version 5.3 carries the LC3, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC and SBC codecs, with aptX Lossless handling 16-bit and 44.1 kHz material. Each earbud runs up to 6 hours with noise cancellation off or 4 hours with it on, and with top-ups from the case the totals reach 24 or 16 hours respectively. Every bud weighs 4.7 g and the case adds 37.2 g. The buds carry an IPX5 water resistance rating.

Engineering and use context

The two drivers split the work, with the xMEMS unit handling the high frequencies and the rear-mounted dynamic driver covering the lows and mids. Adaptive active noise cancellation is based on Qualcomm technology and adjusts to the surroundings, a step up from the standard hybrid system in the original Aurvana Ace, and an ambient mode is also available. Calls use three omnidirectional MEMS microphones per earbud, six in total, combined with Qualcomm cVc voice capture processing. Power comes from a 52 mAh lithium-ion button cell in each bud and a 470 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery in the case, which recharges over USB-C or on any Qi-compatible wireless pad. Touch controls can be reassigned through Creative's companion app on iOS or Android, which also switches noise control modes, offers an equaliser and gives access to Super X-Fi processing. Voice assistant access is supported.

Pairing

To use aptX Lossless or aptX Adaptive, the phone or computer must support the matching Qualcomm codec, while LC3 needs an LE Audio source. Devices without these codecs connect through AAC or SBC instead, meaning the earbuds remain usable with iPhones and laptops without these features. Qi wireless charging lets the case top up on the same pad used for a phone, and the water resistance covers sweat and splashes during exercise or commuting, which makes the Ace 2 practical as an everyday travel earphone alongside a smartphone. The six-microphone array with cVc processing is aimed at clearer voice pickup on calls in noisy streets or offices.
