The AMP-05 SE Gold is a compact headphone amplifier from Divaldi of Kraków, Poland, and it follows the brand's earlier AMP-01 and AMP-02 models. The SE Gold was first shown at Audio Video Show 2024 in Warsaw, and it differs from the AMP-05 SE by gold accents along the top and bottom edges of the case.
Key specs that matter
Output power is 0.9 W, with 2 W of music power, and a switch on the rear selects a 1 W or 2 W setting. The amplifier drives loads from 16 to 600 ohm, frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB and the voltage gain of the power stage is 20 dB. Inputs are one stereo RCA line input and one 3.5 mm mini jack. Outputs are 4-pin XLR, 6.3 mm jack and 4.4 mm Pentaconn, and a version with a 3.5 mm output is available. Only one output can be used at a time. Power comes from an external 16 V AC supply rated at 1 A, and maximum consumption is 15 W. Output current reaches 0.5 A per channel in pulses. The amplifier measures 115 x 55 x 102 mm and weighs 0.7 kg.
Engineering and use context
The circuit is a fully discrete proprietary design working in Class A, with a variable bias current for the power transistors. It is dual mono, with two isolated channels that each have their own stabilised supply, keeping left and right electrically apart. Protection circuits are placed at three points, and the headphone output switches on several seconds after power-up, which keeps switch-on thumps away from the headphones. A monolithic aluminium-alloy housing, milled from solid, shields the circuit magnetically, damps vibration and carries away the heat from the Class A stage. Assembly combines through-hole and surface-mount parts, and the through-hole components are selected and matched by hand. Placing the transformer in the external supply keeps its magnetic field and heat outside the small case. The balanced outputs drive each side of the headphone with its own amplifier, while the large single-ended jack serves standard single-ended cables. The mini-jack input accepts a portable player or phone directly, and the rear power switch lets the owner match the output to the headphone.
Pairing
The wide load range covers most dynamic headphones, and the RCA input connects a desktop DAC. The small footprint suits a desk next to a computer.
Alternatives
Divaldi has no other current headphone amplifier, as the AMP-01 and AMP-02 are earlier models replaced by the AMP-05.
