The moto sound flow is Motorola's first portable speaker, tuned with Sound by Bose and launched in January 2026 at EUR 199 in Europe. It combines Bluetooth for use away from home with Wi-Fi streaming indoors, and it is offered in two Pantone colour finishes, a black Carbon and a brown taupe.

Key specs that matter

Rated output is 30 W, split between a 20 W woofer and a 10 W tweeter, with two passive radiators extending the low end of the enclosure. Motorola quotes up to 12 hours of playback from the 6000 mAh cell. Wireless links cover Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5, plus an ultra-wideband radio, and the enclosure is rated IP67 against dust and water.

Engineering and use context

Physically it is a tall cylinder with a flat top and a flat base, wrapped in twill-textured fabric. An LED ring sits on the top surface next to capacitive touch buttons, so the controls stay sealed against water. The battery can be topped up in two ways, by standing the speaker on the included charging dock or by plugging a USB-C lead into the rear socket, which keeps it ready on a shelf and still usable on the move. Over Wi-Fi the speaker works with AirPlay, Google Cast and Spotify Connect, so it can join multiroom playback from Apple and Android devices. Four microphones pick up voice for hands-free calls when a phone is connected, and the speaker can take over a call already in progress on the phone.

The UWB radio is what sets the model apart. Proximity sensing notices when a UWB-enabled phone comes close and moves the current call or track from the phone to the speaker, and Quick Switch performs the same transfer from a phone or moto buds with a gesture. Room Shift hands playback to the nearest speaker as the listener walks between rooms, while Dynamic Stereo adjusts left and right channels according to where each unit stands in a setup with several speakers. The companion app for Android and iOS manages settings, connections and playback transfer and offers an adjustable equalizer.

Pairing

The fullest feature set comes with a recent Motorola phone that has UWB, together with moto buds for handing audio between earbuds and speaker. An iPhone or Mac can stream through AirPlay and an Android phone through Google Cast, while any Bluetooth source works outdoors. Two or more units are needed to make use of Room Shift and Dynamic Stereo.

Alternatives

Motorola has no other portable speaker, as the moto sound flow is the brand's first model in this category.
