The Madison Power S is an external power supply from Wattson Audio, the Swiss company from Préverenges that shares its headquarters, production and engineering workshops with CH Precision. It is designed for the Madison streamer and works with all Madison models, past and present, and the Emerson Analog and Emerson Digital are also named as compatible. It was announced on 12 November 2025 at USD 2,495, or EUR 2,495 including VAT. Its footprint matches that of the Madison, so the two units can be stacked.
Key specs that matter
Input is universal at 100 to 240 V AC and 50 or 60 Hz. The output is 5 V DC at up to 3.0 A. Consumption is below 5 W with no load and 30 W at most, and it falls below 0.5 W when the system goes into standby. Protection covers over-voltage, over-current, short circuit and over-temperature. The fuse is a 5 x 20 mm slow-blow type rated at 500 mA and 250 V AC, and the unit carries IECEE CB safety certification. It measures 175 x 155 x 87 mm and weighs 2.3 kg, and it comes in light grey or dark grey.
Engineering and use context
The supply is a hybrid design in which a high-frequency switching stage is followed by linear regulation. The switching stage converts the mains efficiently with a small transformer, and the linear stage behind it removes the switching residue and holds the output voltage steady. The output regulator is built from discrete bipolar transistors rather than an integrated regulator chip. A precision filter at the mains input keeps interference from the power line out of the supply and stops the supply's own switching noise from returning to the mains. The chassis is milled from aluminium, which gives mechanical stability and shields the circuits against electromagnetic interference. A streamer depends on its low-voltage supply for its clocks, network interface and DAC, so any noise on its supply rail reaches every section of it. Wattson states that its engineering team and that of CH Precision work as one, and the Power S was developed in that shared setting. The protection circuits shut the output down in a fault instead of passing it on to the connected streamer.
Pairing
The Power S takes the place of the standard supply of a Madison streamer and connects to its DC input. Stacked, the two units need no more shelf area than the streamer alone.
Alternatives
Wattson Audio makes no other power supply, its range otherwise consisting of the Madison streamers, the Madison Phono and the Emerson models.
