The Silent Angel H1 Pure Music Hub puts streaming, digital-to-analogue conversion and local library management into a single aluminium chassis, and it is the first Silent Angel device with a large display on the front. It opens the Lifestyle Hub line and is aimed at desktop systems as well as living-room setups. Control is handled by a mobile app for iOS and Android, running on top of the Linux-based VitOS Orbiter operating system.
Key specs that matter
Inside, the H1 relies on two ES9039Q2M DAC chips, fed through a third-generation 16-core XMOS XU316 audio processor. The main computing platform is a quad-core Rockchip RK3568 with ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz and 4 GB of DDR4 memory. Silent Angel quotes an output level of 4.5 Vrms, THD+N below 0.00008% at 1 kHz (-121 dB) on the XLR output, noise floor under 1.7 uVrms, SNR of 129 dB and DNR of 129 dB at 1 kHz, channel separation of -120 dB and frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.07 dB. The case measures 280 x 220 x 77.7 mm, and rated consumption is 25 W.
Engineering and use context
The front carries a 5.5-inch non-touch screen with 720 x 1280 resolution mounted horizontally. Streaming services built into the software include Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, QQ Music with its Xianlai tier and internet radio, and the unit also receives AirPlay 2 and DLNA casting. Network connection is a 1000M wired port or Wi-Fi 6 working in two bands. For local files there is a 32 GB microSD card installed at the factory plus an M.2 NVMe slot for adding an SSD, and music can also be read from a NAS or USB storage. Besides playing from the network, the H1 works as a computer DAC. Its USB-B input takes 32-bit PCM at sample rates up to 768 kHz and DSD512. The power supply runs from 110-120 V or 220-240 V mains and feeds four independent power rails inside. There is no headphone output, and Roon integration is not listed by the maker.
Pairing
The analogue section has two output pairs, XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced, letting the H1 drive active speakers, a preamp or an integrated amp without extra hardware. Digital outputs are also provided - optical up to 192 kHz, USB-C and a separate USB-AUDIO port - so an external DAC or digital amplifier can take over conversion when the owner prefers that route.
Alternatives
Silent Angel also makes the Munich M1, a network streamer that includes its own DAC and a headphone amplifier.
