The Ewave is an audio-grade Ethernet network switch from Keces Audio, the maker whose catalogue also includes the S4 stereo preamplifier, the Euphony DAC, the P28 linear power supply rated at 28 A and the IQRP-1500 isolated power conditioner. It is meant for streaming systems that receive music over a wired network, and it sells in Europe for EUR 1,499 in black.

Key specs that matter

Eight RJ45 ports each work at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps, so both Gigabit and older Fast Ethernet devices can be connected. Timing comes from a 25 MHz oven-controlled crystal oscillator, or OCXO, which Keces specifies for ultra-low phase noise. The box contains only the switch itself. Power arrives through a DC jack of 2.5/5.5 mm size and the unit needs 12 V at 1 A. The chassis measures 220 x 220 x 66 mm and weighs 4 kg, which is heavy for an eight-port switch.

Engineering and use context

Inside, Keces gives each critical section its own power supply path - the network chip, the OCXO clock, the input stage, the output stage and the microcontroller are fed separately through multi-stage regulation, so that noise from one block does not spread to the others. An oven-controlled oscillator keeps its crystal at a stable temperature, which is how it holds its frequency more steadily than an ordinary crystal. Every port can be switched on or off on its own, so unused connections can be deactivated to reduce crosstalk and keep signal integrity on the active ones. The firmware carries an audio-priority Quality of Service setting that manages traffic so that music data streams are handled ahead of other network activity. The circuit design is done in-house, and the PCB routing and layout were worked out and tested to lower electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. The Ewave was presented at the start of 2026 as part of the company's move into network products for digital playback.

Pairing

The switch is placed between the router and the Ethernet input of a network streamer, streaming DAC or music server, and it can also connect a NAS drive holding a local library. Because the DC supply is fed through a standard barrel jack, it can be run from an external linear power supply with the matching voltage and current rating, such as the ones Keces builds in its Pier series.
