The SP-332 is a hybrid stereo power amplifier from Vincent, the German brand's successor to the SP-331. It combines a vacuum tube input stage with a solid-state FET output stage, and was developed alongside Vincent's SA-32 hybrid preamplifier, so the two form a natural matching pair. Front-panel VU meters and a rear switch for their backlight colour are among the most visible changes from the previous model.

Output is 2 x 150W into 8 ohms and 2 x 250W into 4 ohms. Frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz +/-0.5dB, and 20Hz to 50kHz within 2dB. THD is below 0.1% at 1kHz and 1W, signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 91dB, input sensitivity is 1.35V and input impedance is 47 kilohms. Inputs are one stereo RCA and one stereo XLR, with two pairs of speaker terminals per channel. Maximum power consumption is 531W. Engineering and use context

The input stage uses two 6N16 subminiature tubes working in a differential push-pull configuration, while the output stage relies on eight FET transistors, four per channel, to deliver current to the loudspeakers. This division places the tubes in the low-level voltage stage and leaves the high-current work to transistors, so the amplifier combines tube circuitry with the load control of a solid-state output. The power supply is built around a 500W toroidal transformer with 80,000uF of filter capacitance, providing a large energy reserve for peaks and explaining why output rises substantially as impedance halves. An additional 6N15 tube handles voltage stabilisation. The backlight of the VU meters and status LEDs can be switched between red, blue, green and white, and illuminated front-panel buttons select speaker pairs A and B without reaching behind the unit.

Pairing

An easy input load and moderate sensitivity suit tube and solid-state preamplifiers alike, and Vincent's own SA-32 hybrid preamplifier is the intended partner. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs give flexibility with any preamplifier, while the 3.5mm power control jacks switch the SP-332 on and off with other Vincent components. The A and B speaker outputs allow two pairs of loudspeakers or bi-wiring, and the power reserve covers low-impedance loudspeakers.
