The M10 is a dual-chassis two-channel power amplifier built by the Swiss company CH Precision as the successor to the M1.1 at the top of the brand's amplifier range. CH describes it as a ground-up reassessment of every circuit, board layout and material, with a redesigned input stage, a reworked signal path and twice the supply capacity of its predecessor. Supplied with two input boards it runs as a stereo amplifier, and a single stereo M10 can later be converted into a pair of monoblocs.
Key specs that matter
Running as a stereo or bi-amp unit, this class AB design delivers 2 x 300 W RMS into 8 ohm, 2 x 550 W into 4 ohm and 2 x 900 W into 2 ohm at under 0.1 percent THD plus noise. Bridged, one chassis gives 1,100 W into 8 ohm, 1,700 W into 4 ohm and 2,500 W into 2 ohm. Bandwidth runs from DC to 500 kHz at -3 dB with the input low-pass filter off, or to 120 kHz with it engaged. THD plus noise measures under 0.01 percent with full local feedback and under 0.002 percent with full global feedback, at 50 W into 8 ohm. Signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 132 dB, or 135 dB bridged, and SMPTE intermodulation stays below 0.001 percent. Gain is +24 dB, rising to +30 dB bridged. Balanced input impedance is 94 kohm or 600 ohm, single-ended 47 kohm or 300 ohm. Both boxes measure 440 x 510 x 285 mm, the amplifier weighing 53 kg and the power supply 78 kg.
Engineering and use context
Separating the supply from the amplification stages keeps transformer fields and heat away from the signal circuits. The supply chassis holds twin 1,800 VA transformers feeding a progressively structured capacitor bank of about 1 farad, and it connects to the mains through two IEC C20 sockets, drawing 2 x 150 W at idle and up to 2 x 1,800 W. ExactBias, a CH-developed two-stage bias control, monitors output transistor temperature continuously so that bias stays stable whatever the load or programme level. Global feedback can be set in 1 percent steps from 0 to 100 percent, which lets two amplifiers in a bi-amp system be matched to each driver section. Each channel accepts XLR, RCA or BNC signals and offers two parallel sets of speaker terminals. An 800 x 480 AMOLED display and a five-button panel handle setup, with firmware updated by USB stick or internet.
Pairing
A line preamplifier with balanced output fits the rated input level of 3.6 V RMS on XLR, and the same 10 Series includes the L10 dual monaural line stage. The low-impedance rating gives headroom for loudspeakers with deep impedance dips.
Alternatives
The CH Precision A1.5 offers a single-chassis stereo alternative with lower rated output.
