The Mono One is a monoblock power amplifier from Alluxity, the Danish lifestyle high-end brand founded by Alexander Vitus Mogensen, who grew up in the family business Vitus Audio. It is the most powerful amplifier in Alluxity's range. The UK price was about GBP 18,200 per pair.
Key specs that matter
Output is about 250 W into 8 ohms, 500 W into 4 ohms and 1,000 W into 2 ohms. Each unit accepts RCA or XLR. Each unit has a 600 VA transformer and 120,000 uF of capacitance. Input impedance is 10 kohm and output impedance 75 milliohms. Input sensitivity is 0.7 Vrms on RCA and 1.4 Vrms on XLR. Bandwidth exceeds 800 kHz, THD+N is given as 0.01% and signal-to-noise exceeds 100 dB. Power consumption is below 1 W in standby and 45 W idle with no load. Each monoblock measures 43.5 x 10.5 x 33.5 cm and weighs 17.5 kg. Finishes are black, grey, orange and white.
Engineering and use context
The Mono One uses the same chassis dimensions as Alluxity's Power Two stereo amplifier but dedicates it to a single channel, with twice the reservoir capacitance of a stereo channel. The larger reserve supports current delivery into low impedances, reflected in output that doubles each time the load halves. The circuit is fully balanced, with discrete gain modules and zero global feedback, as in other Alluxity amplifiers. Building each channel as a separate unit removes interaction between channels in the power supply and wiring. During design, Alluxity separated the channels, the power and control sections and the signal parts inside the chassis to reduce noise, and it combined leaded components with surface-mount parts. Its very low output impedance keeps firm control over woofer movement. As on all Alluxity models, the case is carved from solid aluminium. Alluxity's goal is to bring hi-fi to current and new generations with products designed to fit living spaces. The brand's owner is AVA Group A/S, a company in Herning, Denmark, and the current Alluxity amplifier line consists of the Int One mkII, Pre Two, Power Two and Mono One.
Pairing
A pair of Mono One amplifiers suits Alluxity's Pre One or Pre Two preamplifiers through balanced XLR, and the preamplifiers share the same chassis width for a matched stack. The current reserve suits demanding low-impedance speakers.
Alternatives
Alluxity's Power One is the brand's first stereo power amplifier, built in a deeper and heavier chassis.
