The BRAMA Monoblock Power Amplifier is a mono solid-state amplifier from Vinnie Rossi, the Massachusetts maker that began in 2004 as Red Wine Audio and moved in early 2020 to a larger ISO 9001-certified facility in Worcester. It belongs to the second-generation BRAMA collection, which debuted at AXPONA 2024 alongside YG Acoustics speakers, and it costs USD 59,995 per pair.
Key specs that matter
Each monoblock delivers 300 W RMS into 8 ohm, 600 W into 4 ohm and 1200 W into 2 ohm. Gain is 22 dB, input impedance is 20 kOhm on the balanced XLR input and output impedance is below 0.01 ohm. THD+N is below 0.1%, frequency response is 5 Hz to 100 kHz within 0.5 dB, with a signal to noise figure better than 100 dB. Speaker connections are WBT nextgen 0710-Ag binding posts, and the amplifier accepts a Brama Link or 12 V trigger. Idle consumption is 50 W, mains input is 100 to 264 V and the fuse is a 16 A 250 V fast-blow ceramic type. Each unit measures 475 x 406 x 140 mm and weighs 20.5 kg.
Engineering and use context
Each amplifier works in Class AB, using three precision-matched lateral MOSFETs per rail. Lateral MOSFETs have a negative temperature coefficient at high current, which protects them against thermal runaway, and matching them lets the devices share the load evenly. The 2400 W power supply sits in a precision-machined aluminium chamber isolated from the audio circuitry, so its fields stay away from the signal path. Output doubles every time the load impedance halves, down to the lowest rated load, which means the supply delivers the extra current the lower loads demand. The very low output impedance gives a high damping factor, so the amplifier keeps control of the woofer cones. Protection covers over-temperature and over-current. A power gauge with an air-core movement, sapphire glass and a polished stainless bezel shows RMS output into either of the two main rated loads. The mains inlet is an IEC C14 socket with a fuse holder. Each monoblock ships in a hard case with six latches, wheels and a pressure valve, at a shipping weight of 36 kg, and Vinnie Rossi gives a 10-year warranty. Units are hand-assembled and tested at the Worcester facility.
Pairing
The BRAMA Preamplifier is the matching partner, connected through XLR, and its trigger output switches the monoblocks on with it. The power reserves suit large, low-impedance floorstanding speakers.
Alternatives
The Vinnie Rossi L2 Signature Monoblock is the earlier mono amplifier with a Class AB MOSFET current-buffer design.
