The Triton Evo Mono is a KT150 valve monoblock from Ayon Audio, introduced as the mono counterpart of the Triton Evo integrated and stereo power amplifiers. It works in true balanced or single-ended mode and carries the same broad redesign as the rest of the Evo family, with all gain stages and the power stage reworked for the shortest signal path and most direct signal flow.

Key specs that matter

Operation switches between pentode and triode, with class A quoted for triode. Rated output is 120 W in pentode mode and 80 W in triode mode, and the output stage has taps for 4 and 8 ohm loads. KT150 is the standard output tube, and KT170 can be used as well. Bandwidth is 6 Hz to 70 kHz at -3 dB and the stated frequency response is 5 Hz to 80 kHz. Input impedance is a high 100 kohm at 1 kHz, sensitivity for full output is 750 mV, and Ayon specifies 98 dB S/N at rated output. Negative feedback is 0 dB. RCA and XLR inputs are fitted, and the chassis measures 35 x 56 x 26 cm (width, depth, height) with a weight of 42 kg per unit.

Engineering and use context

Two separate low-noise power transformers are encased, damped and shielded against RFI and EMI. Output valves get a supply smoothed by two chokes, the pre and driver stage has its own choke, and every amplification stage is fed by a separate, isolated supply. Filaments run on regulated DC with soft start, while an AC line filter, high energy storage and in-rush current limiting protect the mains side, and the power-on sequence lasts one minute. Signal passes through valves only, without follower or buffer stages, a protection system guards the power tubes, and bias can be adjusted automatically or manually. The output transformer uses tightly layered windings for wide bandwidth and is sealed in anti-resonance compound. Ayon makes its own tube sockets with beryllium-copper spring pins and fits Neutrik XLR connectors. The non-magnetic brushed aluminium chassis is hand assembled with resonance-absorbing feet, a backlit logo and engraved panel legends, in black or chrome.

Pairing

Ayon states that the amplifier also handles difficult loudspeaker loads. At 100 kohm, the input places little current demand on a valve line stage feeding it.
