The 511 Mono refers to the Soulution 511 amplifier from Series 5 configured in its mono mode, as the maker offers no separate mono chassis. The same unit can be set in its programming menu to run as a stereo, mono or dual mono amplifier, and it is operated by front-panel push buttons together with a rotary control.
Key specs that matter
In mono mode Soulution rates the 511 at 560 W into 8 ohms, 1,120 W into 4 ohms and 2,000 W into 2 ohms, with pulse power above 4,500 W. Gain in this mode is +32 dB, THD+N stays below 0.001 percent at 200 W and S/N measures 108 dB. Damping factor exceeds 5,000, and frequency response runs from 0 Hz to 1.6 MHz. For comparison with the stereo setting, the maker lists 150 W per channel into 8 ohms, +26 dB of gain, a damping factor above 10,000 and a response up to 800 kHz. The chassis measures 442 x 270 x 448 mm and weighs about 30 kg.
Engineering and use context
The amplification circuit follows the technology of the 711 and 701 amplifiers. At its core is a proprietary voltage stage built from linearised amplifiers working up to a cut-off frequency of 80 MHz, and current amplification is spread over three stages, each using only a very small part of its operating range. High Class A operation is kept stable by precise idle current management, so no adjustment is needed during playback. Ten power supplies feed the amplifier, among them four switched-mode units of 600 VA each that together deliver 2,400 W, backed by more than 500,000 uF of storage capacitance, with six linear high-speed low noise regulators. Supplies for circuitry that does not process audio are kept apart from the signal path. Massive copper bars carry current on the amplifier board and to the speaker terminals. The 511 powers down if output current to the speakers exceeds 60 A or if a supply fails, and it is also protected against DC offset and HF signals at the input. Standby consumption is under 0.5 W. Mains fusing is 10 A slow-blow for the 220-240 V model and 15 A for the 100-120 V model. Display brightness offers three steps.
Pairing
In mono and dual mono modes only the left balanced input is active. A ground-lift switch is provided on the input, and the balanced output lets a second amplifier be added in a bi-amplified system. The unit powers up remotely with other Soulution components over the LINK system.

Soulution also builds the 701 mono amplifier in its Series 7.
