The Uniti Nova PE is the Power Edition of the Naim Uniti Nova, an all-in-one streaming amplifier from the Salisbury company that combines network playback, digital conversion and a stereo power stage in one full-width case. It was released in February 2024. Where the original Uniti Nova used an 80 W Class A/B output section, the PE switches to Class D modules developed together with Purifi Audio of Denmark, based on its Eigentakt design.
Key specs that matter
Rated power is 150 W per channel into 8 ohm at 0.1% THD+N, rising to 250 W into 4 ohm. Analogue inputs comprise two 5-pin DIN and two RCA pairs. Digital inputs are two optical Toslink connections up to 24 bit and 96 kHz, a coaxial RCA socket and a coaxial BNC socket, each taking up to 24 bit and 192 kHz plus DoP at 64Fs, and USB handles 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz at 16 to 24 bit. Supported files include WAV at 32 bit and 384 kHz, FLAC, AIFF and ALAC at 24 bit and 384 kHz, DSD64 and DSD128, MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA and M4A. The case measures 432 mm wide, 116 mm high and 265 mm deep and weighs 15.1 kg.
Engineering and use context
Built-in streaming covers Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, internet radio, UPnP and Bluetooth, and the unit is Roon Ready, so it can act as an endpoint for an existing Roon server on the home network. Digital filtering uses a Naim minimum phase brickwall IIR filter with a 60th-order roll-off at 25 kHz. A 12.7 cm colour LCD sits on the front next to a rotary volume control and four buttons, and a ZigBee RF bi-directional remote is supplied, so it works without line of sight. The mains input accepts 115 V or 230 V at 50 or 60 Hz, and consumption in normal use is quoted at 120 W, a modest draw for an amplifier of this output, owing to the switching output design.
Pairing
Besides the speaker terminals, the rear offers a 4-pin DIN and an RCA pre-out pair, which leaves room to bring in outboard amplification or an active bass unit later, and a 3.5 mm socket takes headphones. The two DIN inputs accept Naim sources and phono stages directly on their native connector, while the RCA pairs cover a turntable preamplifier or CD player from other makers. With this power reserve into low loads, passive loudspeakers of low impedance or low sensitivity are within reach without adding separates.
Alternatives
For smaller rooms and easier loads, the Naim Uniti Atom pairs a colour display with a Class AB output of 40 W per channel.
