The U-301 Unity from Danish maker Aavik is a network integrated amplifier that combines streaming, digital conversion, preamplification and 2-channel power amplification inside a single case. It succeeds the original U-300 Unity, and its amplification is derived from the platform of the Aavik I-x88. Aavik lists a price of EUR 15,000 or USD 17,000, with availability expected in October 2026.

Key specs that matter

Rated output is 300 W per channel into 8 ohm and 600 W per channel into 4 ohm. Digital inputs cover a BNC S/PDIF and a Toslink optical socket, both accepting PCM up to 24 bit and 192 kHz with MQA support, plus a USB UAC 2.0 port that takes PCM up to 32 bit and 384 kHz along with DSD64 and DSD128. One pair of RCA preamplifier outputs delivers up to 7.5 Vrms, and the volume control works in 76 steps of 1 dB. The single analogue input is an RCA line connection that accepts up to 4.5 Vrms at an impedance of 10 kOhm. Network access is by wired Ethernet, and RS232 and a 12 V trigger output are provided for system control. Speakers connect through two binding posts. The unit stands 10.8 cm high, 41.8 cm wide and 43 cm deep, and weighs 10.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

Aavik builds the output section as a Pascal Class D design driven by high-speed UMAC modulation, which is how Aavik fits this power into a low, light case. A resonant-mode power supply with power factor correction feeds the circuitry. The frame is aluminium, with cooling elements integrated into it, and thick wood-based laminate plates form the top and bottom. Ansuz Darkz isolation feet are fitted at the factory to reduce vibration-induced noise. The front carries a large LCD, a substantial control knob and three pushbuttons. Network playback runs through the AGD Streaming App on an iPad, with access to TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and vTuner, as well as local servers, NAS drives and USB storage, and the app supports multi-room control. Unlike the U-300, the new model has no built-in phono stage, and optional Darkz resonance-control accessories are sold separately.

Pairing

Vinyl owners will need an external phono preamplifier feeding the single analogue input. The preamplifier output lets owners connect an active sub or bigger external amplification at a later stage, and Aavik positions its M-880 mono power amplifier as a partner for owners who want to expand the system. Its power reserve lets the U-301 drive low-impedance floorstanders without needing extra amplification, while a computer or NAS can act as the main source through USB or the app.
