The TDAI-2210 is a streaming integrated amplifier from Steinway Lyngdorf of Skive, Denmark, and the first Lyngdorf model with a colour touchscreen that can show cover art. The base version is priced at USD 4,499, GBP 3,499 or EUR 3,999, and a version fitted with the moving magnet phono module costs USD 5,049. The dark grey matte case is 32.5 cm wide, 10.2 cm high and 30 cm deep and weighs 4.8 kg.
Key specs that matter
Output is 105 W per channel into 8 ohm and 210 W per channel into 4 ohm, with a maximum current of 35 A per channel. Response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB, and maximum THD is 0.05 percent. Two RCA line inputs are standard, and the digital side offers optical, coaxial, USB-C for a computer, USB-A for a local drive and HDMI eARC. Outputs include a single-ended RCA, a balanced XLR, a coaxial digital output and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Files and streams play at up to 32 bit and 384 kHz. Idle consumption is 18 to 26 W and standby stays under 0.5 W.
Engineering and use context
The amplifier follows the pulse-width modulation based True Digital Amplifier Integrated topology, in which the signal stays digital until the speaker output stage. One expansion slot accepts either the optional MM phono module, sold at USD 550, which also adds balanced and RCA analogue inputs, or an HDMI 2.1 module at USD 650 with two inputs and passthrough. Streaming covers Roon Ready, Google Cast, AirPlay 2, DLNA/UPnP, Audirvana, airable radio plus the Connect functions of Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify, over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and Bluetooth 4.2 is included too, with Wi-Fi to the 802.11ac standard. Supported file types are AAC, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WAV and WMA. Fourteen preset voicings are provided and custom ones can be created, along with high-pass and low-pass filters, a subsonic filter and speaker distance compensation.
Pairing
With its high current reserve the TDAI-2210 can drive low-sensitivity, low-impedance standmounts such as the Lyngdorf Cue-100, and the high-pass and low-pass filters make it straightforward to add a subwoofer. The unit is run from a single ball-bearing control knob, the touchscreen, a remote, the Lyngdorf app or a web interface, and 12 V trigger connections switch other components on together with it.
Alternatives
The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 is a smaller Lyngdorf streaming integrated model delivering 60 W per channel into 8 ohm and fitted with a built-in phono input.
