The TAE 150 is a stereo integrated amplifier from Electric Audio, a German brand created by Gauder Akustik and AMP and based in Renningen, and it is the brand's first amplifier. Its debut came at High End Munich 2025 under the slogan Amps for Ages, and it is developed and built entirely in Germany. The price in Germany is EUR 8,498 including VAT, and a DV, or Double Vision, version with a larger power supply can be ordered at extra cost but cannot be retrofitted.
Key specs that matter
Each channel uses eight MOSFETs, and the amplifier is stable into 2 ohm. Electric Audio's website gives 132 W into 8 ohm, 218 W into 4 ohm and 366 W into 2 ohm, while the manual lists 120, 200 and 300 W for the standard version and 130, 215 and 320 W for the DV, with maximum output current of 80 A and 90 A. THD is 0.006% at 25 W into 4 ohm, signal to noise ratio is 90 dB, or 93 dB A-weighted, bandwidth is 3 Hz to 170 kHz and rise time is 2.1 µs. The five line inputs can be configured as five RCA, one XLR and four RCA, or two XLR and three RCA. Standby consumption is 0.3 W. The amplifier measures 435 x 195 x 390 mm and weighs 22 kg, or 23.5 kg as the DV.
Engineering and use context
The standard version has a 750 VA transformer and 80,000 µF of filter capacitance, and the DV doubles the capacitance to 160,000 µF with a 1,000 VA transformer, WBT-0707 terminals in place of WBT-0708 and a better mains cable. The circuit is purely analogue, with no DSP and no phono stage, and it works without a separate preamplifier stage. Two pairs of WBT terminals per channel are wired in parallel, so the amplifier can drive one pair of speakers single-wired or bi-wired, or two pairs. A variable output on XLR and RCA, an RJ45 link, two trigger outputs and a USB port for updates are on the rear. Volume moves in 0.5 dB steps when the knob is turned slowly and in larger steps when it is turned fast, and it resets to -50 dB at switch-on. Input sensitivity can be trimmed for each input. The logo and standby bar light up in 13 colours with adjustable brightness. The RCE 1 remote is included, and the aluminium RCE 11 is optional. Registering the amplifier online gives a three-year warranty.
Pairing
The PAE 150 power amplifier connects through the link and a signal cable for bi-amping, with its level adjusted from the TAE 150 in steps from -3 to +3 dB. The current reserves suit low-impedance speakers.
Alternatives
Electric Audio has no other integrated amplifier, as its only other model is the PAE 150 power amplifier.
