The TAD-A1000D is an integrated amplifier made by the Japanese company TAD Laboratories that adds a digital section to the analog platform of the TAD-A1000, the company's first integrated amplifier. TAD describes it as a derivative of that model and keeps both in the range. It brings in the brand's digital signal processing and conversion technology, with the silver version due in mid-November 2026 and a black version built to order. The Japanese price is JPY 3,800,000, roughly USD 27,500 at the time of the announcement, and a US list price had not been published. Its parent A1000 reached world markets in 2025.

Key specs that matter

Rated output is 250 W per channel into 4 ohm at 1 kHz, with distortion below 0.05% measured at 125 W into the same load. Frequency response runs from 10 Hz to 50 kHz within +0 and -3 dB, TAD states a noise figure of at least 100 dB, and gain is 41.5 dB. The analog side offers three balanced inputs at 100 kOhm and two unbalanced inputs at 50 kOhm. Digital connections cover balanced, coaxial, optical and USB. The chassis measures 440 x 200 x 553 mm and weighs 29 kg. Power draw is 130 W in use and under 0.5 W in standby.

Engineering and use context

Compared with the TAD-A1000, which has four balanced analog inputs, the D version trades one of them for its digital inputs. Balanced and coaxial digital inputs accept 44.1 to 192 kHz, and optical inputs accept 44.1 to 96 kHz. The USB input handles PCM from 44.1 to 384 kHz and DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256, using a proprietary asynchronous transfer circuit that deals with DSD256 at 11.2 MHz. Timing is referenced to the third generation of the TAD ultra precision crystal oscillator, known as UPCG. The output stage uses a balanced bridge tied load arrangement fed by a high capacity toroidal transformer. The interior is split into five chambers to isolate sections from vibration and from each other, and many parts are custom made for this model.

Pairing

A computer or network transport can connect straight to the USB port for high resolution PCM and DSD files. A disc player with a digital output can use the coaxial or balanced digital link. Because of the generous total gain, sources with a standard line output reach full power without an external preamplifier. Analog sources such as a phono stage or a separate DAC still have the balanced and unbalanced line inputs. The rating into low impedance suggests that loudspeakers with a low nominal impedance are within its intended range.

Alternatives

The TAD-A1000 is the purely analog version of the same integrated amplifier, with four balanced inputs and no built-in converter.
