The Prestige X430 is a stereo integrated amplifier that includes a DAC, made by Michi, the high-end brand of Rotel, and it opens the Prestige Series, a new design direction within Michi. The series has two models, the X430 and its companion, the Prestige Q430 CD player at USD 3,999. The X430 went on sale in North America in March 2026, with a global rollout in the second quarter of 2026, at USD 4,999, EUR 4,999 and GBP 4,499.
Key specs that matter
The Class AB amplifier delivers 210 W per channel into 8 ohm continuous, 220 W into 8 ohm under FTC conditions and 340 W into 4 ohm. THD and IMD are below 0.03%, the damping factor is 260 from 20 Hz to 20 kHz into 8 ohm and channel separation exceeds 55 dB. Frequency response is 10 Hz to 100 kHz on the line inputs and 20 Hz to 20 kHz on phono. Analogue inputs are three RCA at 356 mV and 100 kOhm, one XLR at 743 mV and 50 kOhm and a moving-magnet phono input at 5.56 mV and 47 kOhm. Digital inputs are three coaxial and three optical S/PDIF up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, USB Audio Class 2 up to 32 bit and 384 kHz and DSD256, HDMI ARC with CEC for two-channel PCM up to 24 bit and 48 kHz, and Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC. Outputs are two pairs of speaker terminals with A/B switching, dual mono RCA subwoofer outputs, a preamplifier output and a headphone socket. Power consumption is 520 W. The amplifier measures 431 x 148 x 422 mm and weighs 16.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
Rotel winds the oversized toroidal transformer itself and mounts it in a noise-rejecting enclosure, and the supply uses multi-stage voltage regulation. Conversion runs on an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M chip, and the USB input is certified Roon Tested. Tone controls adjust bass and treble by up to 10 dB at 100 Hz and 10 kHz. The colour display can show VU meters or a spectrum analyser, and its colour can be customised. The faceplate and top cover are anodised aluminium, with a knurled volume knob and a glass front panel. A 12 V trigger and an RS232 port connect the amplifier to control systems. With two independent subwoofer outputs, one subwoofer can stand beside each speaker, and the A/B speaker switching lets a second pair be run in another room.
Pairing
The Prestige Q430 CD player is the natural partner, connected through one of the digital inputs. The power reserves suit most floorstanding and stand-mount speakers, low-impedance designs included, and a television connects through HDMI ARC. A moving-coil cartridge requires a separate step-up device or phono preamplifier.
Alternatives
The Michi X3 Series 2 is the integrated amplifier of the main Michi range, with 200 W into 8 ohm and an ESS ES9028PRO DAC.
