The Platina Integrated is a dual-mono Class AB integrated amplifier from QUAD with a built-in DAC, phono stage and headphone output, and the first model of the Platina series, later joined by the Platina CDT transport and the Platina Stream. It reached the market in November 2025 at GBP 3,499, USD 5,495 or AUD 7,999, with a silver or black finish.
Key specs that matter
QUAD rates the output at 200 W per channel into 8 ohm and 310 W into 4 ohm at under 1 percent THD, with up to 20 A of output current. Analogue inputs are two RCA pairs, one XLR pair and a switchable MM/MC phono input. Digital inputs cover two S/PDIF coaxial sockets plus two Toslink sockets from 44.1 to 192 kHz, a USB-C port taking PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512, and HDMI ARC for a television. Outputs include RCA and XLR preamp pairs, coaxial and optical digital outs and two 12 V triggers. The line stage runs at unity gain with a 50 kohm input and 120 ohm output impedance, and the power section adds 30 dB. The case measures 445 x 134.5 x 348 mm and weighs 17.1 kg.
Engineering and use context
Left and right amplifier circuits are separate and are fed from a custom 630 VA toroidal transformer and 44,000 uF of filter capacitance per side, with cascaded voltage regulators in both the analogue and digital sections. Some capacitors were made to order with Wurth Elektronik. Volume is set by an active four-channel control working in steps. The DAC uses the ESS ES9038PRO 32-bit chip with separate master clocks for the 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz families, five selectable reconstruction filters and optional upsampling to 352.8 or 384 kHz, and it carries Roon Tested certification. The phono stage is a JFET design with 46, 52 or 60 dB of gain, loading MM cartridges at 50 kohm and 100 pF and MC at 360 ohm and 200 pF. A current-feedback headphone amplifier with 2.35 ohm output impedance handles loads from 20 to 600 ohm. A 4.3-inch IPS screen and machined aluminium knobs sit on the front, and firmware updates arrive over USB.
Pairing
The 20 A current reserve and the high output into low impedance let the amplifier take on low-impedance and low-sensitivity loudspeakers. A turntable connects directly, a streamer or computer feeds the USB-C port, and a TV uses the HDMI ARC link. The preamp outputs allow a subwoofer or larger power amplifier to be added. QUAD covers the unit with a 3-year warranty.
Alternatives
The QUAD 3 is a smaller integrated amplifier from the brand's 3 Series, styled after QUAD components of the 1960s.
