The Mini300 is a small stereo power amp made by TOPPING, whose DACs and headphone amplifiers are known for very low measured distortion. It is a fully balanced Class D design delivering well over 100 W per channel from a small aluminium chassis. It has a 12 V trigger for automatic switching with other components.

Engineering and use context

The fully balanced topology drives each speaker terminal from its own amplifier half, which doubles the voltage swing available from the supply and cancels even-order distortion. The balanced input takes a signal from a DAC or preamplifier with TRS outputs, common in desktop and studio equipment, and offers the lowest distortion and the best crosstalk figures. Residual noise below 15 microvolts means no hiss is audible even with sensitive speakers close to the listener. The Class D topology is highly efficient and keeps the chassis cool, and the aluminium construction adds rigidity, shielding and heat dissipation, helped by vents on the sides and bottom. Protection circuits guard against overheating, overcurrent and excessive volume, and the amplifier starts and shuts down silently. The 12 V trigger switches it on and off with the source or preamplifier. As a power amplifier, the Mini300 needs a volume control upstream, typically in a DAC with variable output. The chassis is about 6.5 inches (165 mm) wide, and colours are silver, black and white. The package includes the 38 V power adapter.
