The ENSO INT-125 is the first integrated amplifier from Ultrafide Audio, the domestic hi-fi arm of the professional audio manufacturers MC2 Audio and XTA Electronics, which have three decades of work in live and studio sound. It was announced on 11 February 2026, shown publicly at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show later that month, and is priced at GBP 3,500 including VAT. The name comes from the Japanese enso circle, a symbol of completeness, unity and balance. Design and manufacture take place in East Devon, England, with Alex Cooper as lead engineer.

Key specs that matter

Output is 125 W per channel into 8 ohm and 250 W per channel into 4 ohm. For analogue sources the ENSO has a single XLR socket and a pair of RCA inputs, plus a moving magnet phono input with adjustable settings. For digital sources there is one optical and one coaxial input feeding an internal stereo DAC. A stereo Class AB headphone amplifier drives a front-panel socket. Bass and treble controls give plus or minus 8 dB of adjustment. The chassis is a standard 42 cm width that fits ordinary hi-fi racks, and an OLED display and a remote handset cover operation.

Engineering and use context

Its output stage follows the UltraSigma topology, derived from its professional amplifiers, and the circuit borrows from the U500DC and SP500 power amplifiers, while the OLED display arrangement comes from the U4PRE preamplifier. Power comes from a linear toroidal-transformer supply instead of a switching design. Alex Cooper also designed the tone control circuit. A send/return loop with a pre-out and a power-in allows the preamplifier and power sections to be split, so the unit can work as a plain integrated, as a preamplifier for a larger power amplifier, or as one part of a multi-amplified or active system, and a bypass takes the loop out of circuit when it is not used. The maker states that the ENSO is not a network amplifier and is not meant to replace a streaming app, so there is no streaming built in.

Pairing

The doubling of output into the lower load means low-impedance loudspeakers are within its reach. Record decks fitted with MM cartridges plug straight in, while moving coil pickups need a step-up device first. Streaming requires an external network player connected to the optical or coaxial input or to one of the analogue inputs. The balanced input suits sources with XLR outputs, and the power-in lets an outboard processor or crossover be inserted between the two halves.

Alternatives

Ultrafide Audio offers no other integrated amplifier, as the rest of its range consists of power amplifiers and a preamplifier.
