The DMS-300A is a streaming integrated amplifier from Cary Audio, designed and manufactured in the USA and presented in August 2025 as the latest addition to the company's DMS family of network players. One chassis holds a solid state power stage, a converter and a network player, with a US price of USD 5,995 and silver or black fascias on offer.

Key specs that matter

Output is produced by a discrete class AB design using power MOSFET transistors, rated at 75 W RMS per channel into 8 ohm and 125 W RMS into 4 ohm, both across 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Frequency response runs from 10 Hz to 50 kHz within 0.1 dB. Cary lists harmonic distortion of 0.0004 percent at 1 kHz and below 0.5 percent by the SMPTE intermodulation method, noise more than 100 dB below full output with A-weighting, channel separation of 106 dB and a dynamic range of 117 dB. Analogue connections cover three single-ended RCA inputs named Main-In, Line 1 and Line 2, each at 10 kohm, plus a 3.5 mm jack. Engineering and use context

A two-channel AKM chipset performs the digital to analogue conversion, using a 32-bit, 8x oversampling digital filter and an analogue stage built as a third-order Bessel filter. PCM is accepted from 44.1 to 384 kHz at up to 32 bits, and DSD from DSD64 to DSD512 in DSF and DFF files. Network playback runs over Ethernet or 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi with Roon Ready certification, UPnP/DLNA, AirPlay and native Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz Connect, controlled from iOS and Android apps. Local files can come from three USB-A ports or an SD card, and coaxial and Toslink inputs take external digital sources. The Qualcomm aptX Bluetooth module works both as a receiver and as a transmitter. Protection covers short circuit, thermal, ultrasonic and RF conditions, with a current limiter and signal muting. Each unit leaves the factory set for either 110 to 120 V or 220 to 240 V mains.

Pairing

Single-ended RCA subwoofer outputs let one or two powered subwoofers join the system, and a 3.0 V RMS preamplifier output with 220 ohm output impedance can drive an external power amplifier. Coaxial and Toslink outputs, limited to 192 kHz and 24 bits, pass digital audio to an outboard DAC or recorder. A 12 V trigger output switches connected equipment, and an IR control port accepts wired remote systems. The internal power stage suits passive loudspeakers of average sensitivity in a 20 m2 room.
