The Brio Mk7 is the seventh generation of Rega's compact Brio integrated amplifier, announced as available on 6 March 2025 and built by Rega Research inside an aluminium case of half width made to its own design. This version is the first Brio with an integrated DAC designed by Rega, and standby, auto standby and thermal cut-out are also new for the Mk7. A dedicated moving-magnet phono stage completes the input set.
Key specs that matter
Rated output is 50 W per channel into 8 ohm from a class AB design. THD plus noise is typically 0.005% at 1 kHz, A-weighted. Connections comprise three line inputs on RCA sockets, the phono input and two digital inputs - an isolated coaxial S/PDIF input at 0.5 V and 75 ohm and an optical Toslink input. The DAC accepts PCM at sample rates of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192 kHz, up to 24-bit. Headphones plug into a 3.5 mm socket on the front panel. Power draw is 200 W in operation and 0.4 W in standby. The case measures 216 x 79 x 365 mm, and the amplifier weighs 4.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
Rega re-laid the complete circuit for this generation, with an upgraded PCB layout optimised for lower distortion and shorter signal paths. A second raw power supply was added so that the output stage is isolated from the driver stage and from the line and phono amplifiers, which separates the high-level and low-level signal stages. Higher-specification MUSES operational amplifiers now provide gain in the line, DAC and phono sections, and the phono stage gains from the improved isolation between stages. The headphone output is fed by its own dedicated amplifier circuit. Volume is set with a motorised control that also responds to the custom mini system remote supplied in the box. If no signal arrives for roughly one hour, the auto standby function switches the unit off. Thermal cut-out and short-circuit protection guard the output stage against overheating and shorted speaker leads. Rega gives the Brio Mk7 its lifetime limited warranty covering manufacturing defects.
Pairing
Rega's own turntables fitted with Nd-series moving-magnet cartridges plug straight into the phono socket, with no outboard phono preamplifier required. Digital sources such as a TV, a CD transport or a network streamer use the coaxial or optical socket, so vinyl and digital playback both run through one compact box.
Alternatives
Rega also makes the Elex, an integrated amplifier listed alongside the Brio in its range.
