The sPS-550 is a dedicated audio power supply from SOtM, the Korean company in Cheonan that makes network players, USB components and clocks for computer-based audio. It arrived in October 2026 together with the sMS-500 network player and the sCLK-OCX10ultra master clock, and it takes over from the sPS-500, adding more output voltages and a higher power ceiling. The aim is that one box can feed a single digital component or a small computer audio setup without a separate wall adapter for each device.

Key specs that matter

Eight output voltages are available on a rear-panel selector - 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 15, 17 and 19 V DC, each held within a tolerance of 10 percent. Current limits are 8 A at 5, 7, 9 and 10 V, 6.6 A at 12 V, 5.3 A at 15 V, 4.7 A at 17 V and 4.2 A at 19 V. Maximum output power is 80 W, rated at 100 V AC input with an internal temperature below 50 degrees Celsius. The mains input accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz and draws up to 2.5 A. Controls are limited to a DC output on/off switch, one operating indicator LED and a mains switch on the back panel.

Engineering and use context

SOtM states that ordinary supplies mostly deal with interference arriving from the AC mains, while the sPS-550 is also designed to suppress electrical noise produced by the connected equipment itself, which can otherwise travel back along the power line into the rest of the system. The circuit uses the company's own power supply topology and parts it describes as audio-grade. Protection circuits guard against a shorted output, overheating, excess voltage and excess current. SOtM treats power, networking, USB signal integrity and clocking as interacting parts of one digital system and places this unit at the base of that chain. Operation is specified between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius, storage between 0 and 40 degrees, with humidity of 10 to 90 percent in both cases.

Pairing

SOtM names the sMS-2000 and sMS-500 network players, the sNH-10G network switch and the tX-USBultra as intended partners. SOtM also positions it for computer-based audio systems, and any DC-powered component whose input falls on one of the eight steps can use it, as long as its current draw stays inside the limit for the chosen voltage. The maker adds that its current reserve keeps the supply stable during rapid load changes.

Alternatives

The SOtM sPS-500 is the earlier and simpler supply of the brand, with four selectable voltages and a 50 W output rating.
