NAT Audio, short for Nikic Audio Team, builds vacuum tube and hybrid amplification in Serbia. It was, founded in 1993 by Dejan Nikic in Kragujevac. The company builds phono stages, line stages, power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers and mains conditioning products, and since 2001 it has introduced a long list of firsts in its field, from a battery-powered tube phono stage in 2004 to a plasma-effect AC conditioner in 2009.
Range & what it's known for
The core of the range is tube preamplification and power amplification, with the Magnetostat as the reference line stage. The Magneto is a hybrid power amplifier, and the Symbiosis Se, introduced in 2009, was presented as the first direct-coupled hybrid single-ended integrated amplifier without feedback. The design rules are consistent - triode configuration, a short signal path, direct coupling and zero negative feedback in single-ended circuits. In 2023 NAT added a fully DC-coupled amplifier with no capacitors in the signal path.
Who owns it and where it's made
NAT remains tied to its founder's family name and to Serbia, where the products are designed and hand-assembled. Every unit goes through a burn-in test of more than 100 hours before delivery. The company favours new old stock tubes from makers such as General Electric and RCA, often choosing military-grade versions.
The lineup in this catalog
The catalog lists NAT power amplifiers and line stages, the least expensive at about EUR 5,000 and the top models beyond EUR 30,000.
Who it's for
NAT suits listeners committed to single-ended tube circuits who want a complete chain from phono stage to power amplifier from one workshop. A line stage or an integrated such as the Symbiosis Se is the natural entry, with the Magnetostat line stage and the tube power amplifiers as the upgrade route. Owners should be ready to source and replace NOS valves over time.
